This statistic illustrates the global smartphone sales to end users by operating system from the first quarter of 2009 to the third quarter of 2012. In the first quarter of 2010, Apple sold 8.36 million smartphones. In 2010, 296.65 million smartphones were sold worldwide. In the third quarter of 2009, 3.5 percent of all smartphones sold to end users were phones with the Android operating system.
